1And Samson went down
to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. 2And he came up, and
told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore
get her for me to wife. 3Then his father and
his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that
thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth
me well. ·
The parents
gave good advice.
Why would an Israelit, (a Nazaraite on top of that) want to be one with a worshipper of Dagon? She couldn’t
possibly help him get ahead or even fulfill his God given calling and mission. ·
He was
moved by his flesh – People
moved only by their carnal desires need to understand that it led someone a lot stronger than us (Samson) to blindness, bondage
and an early death. · He let his parents in on it – Get someone who cares about your well being
with whom you’ll be tied forever in on your choices. (family ties) 4But his father and
his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the
Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. · We don’t know everything – That’s why we shouldn’t
judge or criticize someone marriage or failure of it. God can make things work. 5Then went Samson down,
and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against
him. 6And the Spirit of the
LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have
rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. 7And he went down, and
talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well. 8And after a time he
returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees
and honey in the carcass of the lion. 9And he took thereof
in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them
that he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion. |
1. Timnath=
God’s Portion
· God
had a plan for Samson: God wanted to use him to smite the Phillistines. He didn’t know, neither did his parents,
what God’s plan was.
·
God also has a plan for you: You may not know it yet.
· There is nothing like living God’s Timnath for your life! It is not an automatic thing.
This ministry will help you find your Timnath.
2. On the Road to Timnath:
What are the obstacles?
·
He slipped off road. (We saw off Road on the way over here, Sand
Dunes)
·
It’s dangerous. That’s where the young lion attacked.
(more later)
o
You are out of God’s covering. Of protection, etc.
· He had no business near grapes.

The Law for the Nazarite1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto the children
of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate
themselves unto the LORD; 3he shall separate himself
from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor
of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. 4All the days of his
separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk. 5All the days of the
vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself
unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let
the locks of the hair of his head grow. 6All the days that he
separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body. 7He shall not make himself
unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration* of
his God is upon his head. 8All the days of his
separation he is holy unto the LORD. |
· What was he doing in the Vineyards? Fighting Temptation? Checking out what he’s not
supposed to have? God needed him strong and sober. That’s how he needs you to be!
·
Don’t put yourself in the way of what is your weakness.
Romans 13:14 - But put ye on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. (I can resist anything but temptation.
o
He was away from his parents
o Off the road to his Timnath
o Ever met miserable people
like that? People who never got to God’s will for their lives, and lost the vision of God from their
heart.
·
Don’t
be drawn away from your Timnath.
Jas
1:14 - But every man is
tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. |
3. God’s Power Delivered Him: How many are still
here because God delivered you from the roaring lion.
· 1 Peter 5:8: Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
· The
power of God came upon him. When he needed it the most.
· He
went back on the Road again! Get focused again! Don’t waste anymore time. The longer you stay in the vineyards,
you are pausing God’s Timnath in your own life.
· Trust
in God when you are under attack. He had nothing in his hands. No weapon. Fight the enemy with God’s power,
not your own strength.
4.
Sweetness from the Carcass: Someday it will make sense.
· It was a year later. This time (it says) he turned aside to see, he did not go into the vineyards
