Eat the Lamb
Eat the Lamb
Exodus 12:1-11
Pastor Roy DeLaGarza
Intro:
Some important things happened here. Birth of a nation; change in calendar; and more
important: The Passover. we have all heard about killing the lamb (blood on the door), etc. Heb. 9:22 = Without the shedding
of blood, no remission of sins. John 1:29 = Behold the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. We rarely hear about
the other 3 commands from God.

Eat the lamb
What to wear (while eating)
How to eat the lamb |
|
|
It was a parallel of us today:
Israelites were in Egypt but were not Egyptians. (We are
in the world but not of the world; John 17:6)
They were about to be pulled out of Egypt.
(We are about to be pulled out of this world to meet the Lord in the air and ever be with Him.) - 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
We are waiting for our departure, they were waiting for their exodus.
2. Gather with families: vs.10-20
|
A whole lamb each. This means church, churches (households) Jesus family
= Those who do the will of my Father Luke 8:21. Hdow much more as we see that day approaching. Hebrews 10:25, Psalm 133:1
= “How good and pleasant it is to gather in unity with other believers. |
3. What do we do when we gather?
|
Eat the lamb.
|
|
Through communion - 1 Corinthians 11:24
Sharing the Word of God - We eat, learn, grow, feed each other the word.
Not bite devour and eat each other, (Galatians 5:15) |
|
|
Woe to those who try to make it without the word.
4. How do we eat the Lamb?
|
With bitter herbs. God wanted them to remember their sufferings and the Lords
deliverance.
Failures as well as successes though they are bitter are part of the Lord’s
process in our lives.
Gratitude for what we have that the Lord has given unto us.
With bread without yeast. Yeast means ego and pride. The Lord will receive
no offering given with pride and ego (leaven) Leviticus 2:11; Jesus said, “Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees. (Matthew
16:6) |
5. Eat it all!
|
All of Christ. There are many different portions and messages that form part
of the message of the Kingdom of God.
Faith, prophecy, restoration, Stewardship, etc.
“I don’t like that part. If it is God’s message, eat it!
Prove all things and hold fast that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21) |
6. How should we eat it?
|
Fully dressed and with our shoes on. That means we are ready to exit. Go!
Always looking up for our redemption draws near.
Staff in Hand. Ready for our exit. Holding onto nothing else here in Egypt. Nothing is worth holding onto except our staff. (God
given calling) Ready to exit. This also means prayerfully looking for His appearing.
Quickly! This one is important because it speaks to us about not wasting
time. Make haste. Redeeming the time for the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16) |
Conclusion:
Don’t get used to Egypt.
This is not our permanent dwelling place. We look for a home that is a mansion not built by the hands of men. I’ve got
a better place waiting for me. “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” He built all the world in 6 days,
this place he is preparing for us, he has been working on for close to 2,000 years. Can you imagine how beautiful in must
be? I want to be there.
